Introduction
This Mod was sent to me my Ian at VIP Vapes in Manchester for the purpose of this review. The Mod is described on the VIPVapes website as follows:
“Solid construction in brushed stainless steel / full brass | Solid brass connections |Adjustable positive post |Can take battery size from 18350 - 18650 | Very little voltage drop under load | Can be used with kick for regulated power |Comes in gift box |This is a top quality mod for the price”
And is available to purchase off the VIP Vapes website in either stainless Steel or Brass, for £27.99
Note: Mechanical mods are unregulated mods that operate by point of contact, therefore the device is powered by the battery touching the contacts inside the unit. They do not have any wiring. Because mechanical mods are unregulated you must use protected li-ion batteries or safe chemistry IMR batteries as an unprotected battery can cause short circuit and overheating

Switch
The 22mm switch, has a full width firing plate at the bottom, with the Chiyou logo litly engraved onto the face of it with #Style of Mojo written across the top.
The switch mechanism, can be broken down by carefully unscrewing the brass screw, once removed the switch plate will then lift out, to expose the switch spring.
This switch body if fully stainless steel, with one vent hole running through it. incase the battery vents.
The Switch has a 24mm locking ring, which has indents marked around it to assist in the locking and unlocking. You simple tighten the ring clock wise to lock and anti-clockwise to unlock.
You do need to ensure that you don’t over tighten the locking ring, as it can become a bit tricky to undo, once in place. And you can end up unscrewing it from the main body of the Mod.
Once you have mastered the locking and uplocking, the switch is a joy to use. With a really smooth firing action, and a very positive press.
You must ensure that you engage the locking ring, when not in use, as the Mod will fire when placed on a table top, with the weight of your atty on.
Mod Body Tubing.
The chiyou comes with three separate 22mm body tubes, to allow you to configure the mod in 4 modes. 18350 – 18500 – 18650 plus it allows you to add a kick.
Config 1
The longest tube measure 50mm long and has a laser etched chiyou logo on one side and the serial number on the other, just below some Chinese lettering. This tube can be used with just a sinple 18350 battery.
Config 2
The next tube is 35mm long and can be added to the longest tube to allow you to fit the 18650 battery in.
Config 3
Using the longest 50mm tube you can then add the shortest tube which measure 18mm, to allow you to run an 18500 battery.
Config 4
Connecting all the tubes together to can then run a 18650 with a kick in the top.
All of the threading on the tubes is very well machined. And once the tubes are connected you can hardly even see the joins.
Top Cap 510 Connection.
The top cap measure 22mm wide at the top, with a 24mm airflow control band running around the neck. The 510 connect is fully adjustable via the removable brass center pin, with plastic threaded shielding. You can simple fit the atomizer, and then adjust the center pin back onto it. You also have an adjustable brass battery pin that can be adjusted back, to take up any battery rattle.
The Air flow is required, is controlled by unscrewing the airflow ring, which when unscrewed exposes the three air flow holes on one side. This adjustment need to be made before installing the batteries and in conjunction with the battery pin, but can be adjusted to perfection with a little tweaking.

Aesthetics and build Quality
The Chiyou, is a very machined Mod, with very precise threading on all of the components. The polished stainless steel gives the mod a very clean and simple look. with good quality laser etchingOnce you have the battery in place and the pins adjusted, the Mod feels very solid in the hand with no battery rattle.
The firing switch is really smooth and a pleasure to use. once you have mastered the locking and unlocking.
The airflow ring that runs around the top cap does give a nice level of grip and does stop the mod from slipping through the fingers.
Performance & Real World Experiences
I have been using the Chiyou most days as one of my all-day-mods. and have found it a real pleasure to use. It seems to have amazing level of conductivity through all the brass connections, and runs like a dream producing clouds of vapor with which every RDA i run on it.
It did take me a little time to get used to the locking ring, as i have been used to the flush mount switches. and i did find my self unscrewing the swtich off the mode, if I had done it up to tight. but this was down to user error rather than the mod. But you soon get used to just giving the locking ringn a very lite turn, to lock it off. and once mastered, can be very easily locked and unlocked, with no bother or effort.
And I must admit I do feel happier carrying the Chiyou around in my pocket, knowing it is locked off and cant fire, As I am always a little nervous with some of my flush mounted switch mods in my pocket. know that they can still fire if pressed.
It is great being able to run all types of batteries in it, it definitely gives you the flexibility that you need, and want from a Mod.
Recommendations.
For someone new to Mechanical Mods, looking for a well priced sleek looking Mod that will be able to run on all their batteries, the Chi-you is perfect and well worth investing in. It really does bring alive any RDA of tank that you screw on. Great value Mod.
